Anupam Kher recuperating after eye surgery

Mumbai: Veteran actor Anupam Kher is recovering from the minor surgery he underwent recently for the removal of a cyst in the upper eyelid.

The 59-year-old talk show host thanked all his fans for their wishes on Twitter.

"Thank you for your warm wishes for my eye cyst surgery. It is little better. Bandage is out so I look more scary with a swollen eye," he tweeted.

Earlier this week, Kher had tweeted about the surgery but he postponed it on the same day as had developed infection around his eyes.

'Kahaani' gets Hollywood remake as 'Deity'

Mumbai: Vidya Balan-starrer `Kahaani` is getting a Hollywood version in `Deity` with Niels Arden Oplev of `The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo` fame attached to direct the Yash Raj Films project for international audience.

Jose Rivera (The Motorcycle Diaries) and Richard Regen (Tehran) have adapted the Sujoy Ghosh-directed 2012 film.

"It`s an incredible step by YRF. Years back Aditya Chopra had said he wanted to make `Kahaani` for a global audience... I thought he was kidding. But obviously not. YRF has left no stone unturned on making the English version.

Mumbai: Om Puri, who will be sharing the screen space with veteran British actress Helen Mirren in `The Hundred-Foot Journey`, has compared the `Queen` star with Smita Patil.

`The Hundred-Foot Journey` is an upcoming American comedy-drama directed by Lasse Hallstrom. The film stars Mirren, Manish Dayal, Juhi Chawla and Puri.

"The special thing in this film would be that I am acting with Helen Mirren and they fall in love with each other. She is my Smita Patil," Puri said.

The film will have a romantic angle between Puri, 63, and Mirren.

Mumbai: Actor Emraan Hashmi, whose four-year-old son Ayan was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, today said the child`s health was now improving.

Ayan was diagnosed with a first-stage cancer in January this year. He successfully underwent a surgery.

"He is doing fine. He is even going to school. I plan to show my upcoming film `Raja Natwarlal` to him, I think he will enjoy it," Emraan said.

The actor is happy that `Raja Natwarlal` has got U/A certificate.

Mumbai: Director Rohit Shetty will be seen in a special appearance in actor-turned-producer Shreyas Talpade`s upcoming Marathi film `Poshter Boyz`.

Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan also has a special appearance in the film.

"Both Rohit and Farah are close to me and are very successful directors and I love watching their movies which are out-and-out entertaining films. When I decided to produce `Poshter Boyz`, being in the same entertainer space I knew I had to have them in the film," Shreyas said in a statement here.

'Shaukeen' to release on November 7

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Lisa Haydon-starrer `Shaukeen`, a remake of the 1982 comedy of the same name, is set to release on November 7 this year.

`Shaukeen` also stars veteran actors Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal and Annu Kapoor in lead roles. Kher took to Twitter to share the news.

"Happy to announce the release date of The Shaukeens. It is 7th November. Be ready for this fantasy ride," he tweeted. The film is directed by Abhishek Sharma, who helmed the Ali Zafar-starrer 2010 satire `Tere Bin Laden`.

Mumbai: `Kitni Mohabbat Hai` star Karan Kundra is now worried about being compared to other TV actors entering Bollywood and rather aims to compete with Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.

Karan, 29, who made his Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhat`s `Horror Story`, feels there is no contest between him and his contemporaries on TV.

"I don`t feel any competition with TV actors because I am already at par with them. In fact, I want to make myself able enough to compete with the Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in the industry. That`s my aim," Karan said.
