Working with Bong helmers as good as doing Bengali film: Vidya Balan

Kolkata - Vidya Balan would love to star in a Bengali film but the actress, who calls Kolkata her second home, says she has to find the right script for it.

Vidya just wrapped up the shooting of the Amitabh-Nawazuddin starrer 'Te3n' which is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and produced by Sujoy Ghosh. Shot in the city, the film has the actress making a special appearance.

Balan has signed the sequel of her 2012 superhit thriller 'Kahaani', which was based in the city, and will also be doing a Hindi adaptation of Srijit Mukherji's Bengali film 'Rajkahini'.

Kolkata - Bollywood actress Vidya Balan today said the age-old practice of ban on entry of women of menstrual age in some temples was unfair.

"It is great that we are asking these questions now. Men and women should get equal opportunity at work, social life and everywhere," asserted the National award-winning actress.

"We are saying how unfair it is... I think we will see the changes in our lifetime," Balan told reporters here when asked to comment on the controversy over entry of women in some temples of south India.

Kolkata - Director Sujoy Ghosh has confirmed that he is reuniting with Vidya Balan for the sequel of his 2012 mystery "Kahaani" and is currently busy with its pre-production work.

Sujoy said the film will go on floors soon and will be majorly shot in the city. "Yes 'Kahaani 2' is happening. It is in pre-production stage. Vidya Balan will star in the film. Major parts of the film will be shot in Kolkata," the director told PTI.

Sujoy has produced Vidya's upcoming film "T3EN" directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Kolkata: After receiving acclaim for his role of a serial killer in "Kahaani", Saswata Chatterjee again plays the killer in "89", only this time his character is more complex and sinister.

"I did not have to think much doing Bob Biswas in 'Kahaani'. Here in '89', he is far more dark and you can't read his mind," Saswata told PTI.

To get into the skin of serial killer Sabyasachi, Saswata prepared himself psychologically over a period of time.

Kolkata: Celebrated filmmaker Goutam Ghose explores Partition of Bengal as the subject of his next film.

Titled 'Sankhochil', the film will be Ghose's third Indo-Bangla production after 'Padma Nadir Majhi' and 'Moner Manush', a Lalon Fakir biopic, which broke viewership records in the two countries.

About the title 'Sankhochil', a species of kite, Ghose explained that despite uniformity of language, food habit and culture the people are divided by a boundary.

Kolkata: Showcasing the massive impact of Indian cinema and the country's digital prowess, an exhibition on films is travelling to Indonesia and Malaysia.

As part of the 'Festival of India' celebrations, the fascinating story of a modern and culturally diverse India has been developed by the Kolkata-based National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Culture.

Inaugurated in Jakarta last week, the exhibition will travel to various cities of Malaysia such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Malacca till June.

Kolkata: 'Qissa' director Anup Singh considers Ritwik Ghatak as his teacher and says he is in awe of the maestro's 'Titas Ekti Nadir Naam'.

"I do visit Ghatak on a daily basis. But I am not Ritwik though my characters too speak about displacement," the Geneva-based Singh told PTI here.

His film 'Ekti Nadir Naam' is on Ghatak and Singh considers his internationally acclaimed film 'Qissa' (Story) as an extension of it.

'Qissa', which talks about partition and the dispossessed, will be commercially released in the country tomorrow after a two-year wait.

No proof that Talpade flew first plane, says Ayushmann Khurrana

Kolkata: Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana says they do not have any proof whether Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, on whom his next film 'Hawaizaada' is based on, flew the world's first unmanned aircraft.

"We have no proof that he flew the first plane. We do not know if it was true or not but we should know that someone like him existed. The film is about a conspiracy theory," Khurrana told reporters here. He is playing Talpade in 'Hawaizaada' which releases on January 30.
