India's Shilpa Singh enters top 16 at Miss Universe 2012
Las Vegas, Dec 20 : Shilpa Singh, India's official contestant at the Miss Universe 2012, has entered the top 16 at the international beauty pageant.
Shilpa from Bihar is a Computer Science graduate. The ravishing beauty is currently an Infosys Technologies' employee.
But she wasn't India's original contestant as Uttarakhand's Urvashi Rautela, the original winner of the "I Am She" title, had to withdraw because she was found to have been 25 days below the minimum age limit of 18 years.
Olivia Culpo crowned Miss Universe 2012
Las Vegas, Dec 20 - American Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss Universe 2012 at a gala ceremony Wednesday.
Philippines' Janine Tugonon was adjudged the first runner-up followed by Venezuela's Irene Esser.
India's Shilpa Singh made it to the top 16 spot but failed to progress further.
Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes of Angola crowned Culpo as the new Miss Universe at the glittering ceremony held at Planet Hollywood casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
As many as 89 beauty queens from around the world descended on Las Vegas Wednesday night to compete for the title of Miss Universe.
Jesse, Joy big winners at Latin Grammys
Las Vegas, Nov 17 - Mexican brother-sister duo Jesse & Joy were the big winners in the 13th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, taking home four prizes, while Colombian pop star Juanes came away with album of the year.
Jesse & Joy won in the record of the year and song of the year categories with their hit "Corre!" (Run!) and their CD "Con quien se queda el perro?" (Who's the Dog Staying With?) captured best contemporary pop vocal album.
