Durban, Sep 7 - Visiting Phoenix Settlement, the first "ashram" established by Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa in 1904, was an emotional moment for legendary actress Waheeda Rehman, who had never thought that she will get to see the place.

The Phoenix Settlement is situated on the north-western edge of Inanda, over 20 km from Durban.

The "Guide" fame actress, who has travelled the world, is on her maiden visit to South Africa and she was determined to see the first ashram of Mahatma Gandhi.

Durban, Sep 6 - He has visited the city for the first time and is yet to explore it, but Karan Johar, one of the top filmmakers in Bollywood, says he is open to shoot in the country, which offers a great combination of scenic beauty and infrastructure.

"South Africa offers exquisite locations that our celluloid world has already witnessed, and it has tremendous infrastructure for film production," Karan, who is here to host the first edition of the South Africa India Film and Television Awards (SAIFTA), told IANS.

Durban, Sep 6 - One-film-old Siddharth Malhotra has came here for the first time, got a sneak peek of the exotic beaches and landscape from his hotel window and that, he says, evoked romantic feelings in his heart.

“It's my first time in Durban. I haven't seen the place yet, but whatever I can see from my hotel’s window, I feel like lip-syncing romantic songs on the beaches,” said the “Student of The Year” actor here.

He is here to perform at the South Africa India Film and Television Awards (SAIFTA) Friday, and said he is ready to put his best foot forward.
