Ice Cube's new song defies soaring police brutality

Johannesburg, July 11 : When tension with the US law enforcement is soaring, rapper Ice Cube called for a bold disobedience by co-writing a song against police brutality.

At Quebec City's summer music festival, the 47-year-old rapper said, "The police tried to tell us what we can't play!," likely referring to past rather than present bids to muzzle him, reports Channel24.

Making a vehement verbal attack on the police, Ice Cube said, "F*** the Police" and asked the fans to raise their middle fingers as images of armed officers flashed on a screen.

Los Angeles, June 8 : Rapper Ice Cube has admitted that he is a "firm but fair" father to his five children.

Ice Cube -- who has three sons, O'Shea Jackson Jr., 25, Darrel and Shareef, both 20, and two daughters, Karima, 22 and Deja with his wife Kimberly Woodruff -- has a lot of "respect" for his children, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"I'm firm but fair. I respect my kids and I think a lot of people need to take that approach. It's not a dictatorship at all times," he told Total Film magazine.

Academy's take on 'Straight Outta Compton' Oscar ticket issue

Washington D. C. Jan. 29 : The Academy finally broke its silence over the report that the cast of 'Straight Outta Compton' were not invited to the Oscars this year.

On the issue, which fueled the ongoing # OscarSoWhite controversy further, Academy said that it invites only the nominees and each studio gets a limited ticket allotment, based on the number of nominated films, to use at their discretion, reports People magazine.

Adding to it, Academy even stated that it has been this way for decades.

'Straight Outta Compton' cast didn't get Oscars invite

Washington D. C., Jan. 28 : You won't see anyone from 'Straight Outta Compton' at the Oscars as no one from the 2015 film is invited to the awards ceremony.

A source close to the movie has revealed that none of the cast, including the film's producer, Ice Cube has received an invitation, TMZ. com repors.

However, even if Cube would have been invited, he would have said no.

It is being said the only people invited are the two writers nominated for the best original screenplay.
