Taking on Trump administration's recent gag order blocking some media outlets from covering its daily press briefing, Kimmel said that anyone from CNN, New York Times or any publication with the word "times" should leave the building.

The host for the night, Jimmy Kimmel took to the stage and jumped right into the political humour.

"The broadcast is being watched in more than 225 countries that now hate us," he quipped.

Taking some serious jabs at President Trump, the late night host continued, "It's so easy to reach out and heal. I want to say thank you to President Trump. I mean, remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist? That's gone thanks to him."

Though the numbers may seem a bit low, compared to what he normally makes, Kimmel joked about the sum, saying: "I think it's illegal to pay nothing."

"I'm not sure I was supposed to reveal this. But nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault."
