Los Angeles, Dec 13 : Singer Lady Gaga has praised pop star Madonna for her speech at the 2016 Billboard Women in Music event, by calling her brave and strong.

"Madonna, your speech at the Billboard Music Awards was inspiring. You're so brave and strong. Thanks for being that for us girls we need that," the 30-year-old tweeted on Monday, reports usmagazine.com.

Madonna gave an emotional speech and opened up about sexism and a past rape while accepting the Woman of the Year Award at the December 9 event.

The 30-year-old songstress visited the Ali Forney Center, a shelter for homeless LGBT youth so on behalf of the '# ShareKindness' campaign, 'Today' and 'NBCUniversal's celebration of kind acts both big and small, reports E! Online.

"I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness. I suffer from PTSD," said Gaga, who revealed in 2014 that she had been raped at age 19.

During her speech broadcasted by the CNN, Trump brought in an example of her relationship with her son. Then she specifically stressed on the harm cyber bullying can have on children. She promised to make the issue one of her main issues should she become the First Lady.
